A Dhaka court today showed model Meghna Alam arrested in a fraud case filed with Dhanmondi Police Station, involving allegations of luring a foreign diplomat into a honeytrap.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Masum Miah passed the order after police produced Meghna before the court, seeking to confirm her arrest. 

She was later sent back to jail.

Meghna, crowned Miss Earth Bangladesh 2020, was arrested from her Bashundhara flat on April 9 and placed under a 30-day detention under the Special Powers Act.

On April 13, the High Court questioned the legality of the detention, issuing a rule asking authorities to justify the order within two weeks. 

The rule was issued by Justices Razik-Al-Jalil and Tamanna Rahman Khalidi.
