Cultural Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki has fallen ill due to excessive work pressure but is currently out of danger, doctors confirmed on Sunday (Aug 17).

According to a ministry press release, a medical board has been formed at the hospital to oversee his treatment.

According to the release, Farooki became unwell while attending a ministry workshop in Cox’s Bazar and was subsequently flown to Dhaka, where he is now undergoing treatment.

Doctors have attributed his illness to overwork, noting that he is presently stable.

Besides, a board meeting is scheduled at the hospital at 3:00 pm today to decide on the next course of treatment.

The ministry also urged the public not to be misled by unverified information regarding Farooki’s condition.

Farooki fell ill in Cox’s Bazar on Saturday evening (August 16). At around 10:30 pm, he was airlifted to Dhaka by an Air Force medical helicopter for emergency treatment.

Cox’s Bazar Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Imran Hossain Sajib said the cultural affairs adviser had arrived in the district on Friday, 15 August, for a five-day visit. His schedule included meetings on cultural hubs and the establishment of the July Memorial Monument.
