Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus is set to address the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session in New York today (Sep 26).

According to the schedule, the session will begin at 9:00 am local time, with Professor Yunus slated as the 10th speaker.

In his speech, the Chief Adviser is expected to highlight the interim government’s reform initiatives, the aspirations of the July 2024 mass uprising, the commitment to holding free and fair elections in February 2026, the trial for the July massacre, and the Rohingya crisis.

At a press briefing, Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said Yunus will also present the government’s reform measures over the past 14 months, the country’s economic recovery, and initiatives for a democratic transition.

“The main message is that a fundamental election will be held by February 15 next year. It will be free, fair, peaceful, credible and festive,” Alam added.
