Two people were killed in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck at Kuti in Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria this morning (April 12).
The accident occurred on the Comilla-Sylhet highway.
The deceased were Akash, son of Rahis Mia of Charchartala village in Ashuganj upazila of the district, and Amir Hossain, son of Anisur Rahman of Muradnagar upazila of Comilla.
Several people were injured in the incident. However, their names and identities could not be found.
Locals said that in the morning, a Siam Paribahan bus on its way to Brahmanbaria from Chittagong collided head-on with a coal-laden truck coming from the opposite direction. As a result, the front parts of the bus and the truck were twisted. At that time, the coal owner Amir Hossain, who was in the truck, was killed on the spot and the truck driver Akash was seriously injured. Akash died on the way to Dhaka for better treatment.
Sarail's Khatihat Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Mamun Rahman confirmed the matter.
He said that upon receiving the information, the police went to the spot, recovered Amir's body and sent it to the District Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Besides, a truck driver named Akash died on the way to Dhaka, he said, adding legal action is under process in this incident.
