Bangladesh has called on Slovakia to recruit skilled Bangladeshi workers across sectors, including the automotive industry, and to ease visa processes for its citizens.

The appeal was made by Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain and Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md. Mahfuz Alam during a meeting with Slovakia’s Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Juraj Blanár.

The discussion took place on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum (ADF) 2025 in Turkey, according to a press release from Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Both sides stressed the importance of deepening bilateral relations based on shared values, mutual respect, and cooperation.

They pledged to enhance ties in trade, investment, and multilateral collaboration.

Highlighting Bangladesh’s investment potential, Hossain urged Slovakia to dispatch a business delegation to explore opportunities in the country.

He also suggested that Slovakia consider adopting the European Union’s ‘Talent Partnership’ model to recruit Bangladeshi workers in key sectors.

Minister Blanár welcomed the proposal and agreed to promote stronger business-to-business connections. He expressed interest in sending a Slovak trade team to Bangladesh to assess investment prospects.

Senior officials from both countries, including Bangladesh’s ambassador to Turkey, were present at the meeting.

The three-day Antalya Diplomacy Forum 2025 began Friday under the theme “Reclaiming Diplomacy in a Fragmented World”, hosted by Turkey’s Foreign Ministry and under the patronage of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

The event brought together more than 20 heads of state and government, over 50 foreign ministers, 70 ministers, and senior representatives from international bodies.

Around 4,000 participants, including policymakers, academics, business leaders, media representatives, and students, attended to discuss how diplomacy can serve as a unifying force in today’s divided global landscape.
