The death toll from a bus-microbus collision in Lohagara district of Chattogram reached 10, as three more victims succumbed to their injuries following the accident on the Chittagong-Cox's Bazar highway today (April 2).
The incident occurred around 7:15 am near the Range Forest Officer's office in the Chunati area.
Of the deceased, three were identified as Sadhana Mondal, Dilip Biswas, and ARK Biswas.
Lohagara Fire Service Chief Rakhal Chandra Rudra confirmed the fatalities, reporting that seven microbus passengers died on the spot.
"Three others, initially injured, succumbed to their injuries after being transported to nearby hospitals. One died at the Upazila Health Complex, while the remaining two passed away at the Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
Earlier, Sub-Inspector Manjur Hossain of Dohazari Highway Police Station confirmed that the accident involved a head-on collision between a Relax Paribahan bus, traveling towards Chittagong, and a microbus headed to Cox's Bazar.
Authorities are working to identify all the injured, while investigations into the cause of the collision continue.
This accident follows another similar tragedy in the area on Eid day (March 31), where five people were killed and 12 others injured in a crash between a bus and a minibus.
