Advance train ticket sales for Eid-ul-Fitr will start on March 14 and continue until March 20, allowing passengers to purchase tickets for journeys from March 24 to March 30.

Railways Secretary Md Fahimul Islam confirmed the matter on Thursday (March 6). 

Earlier, on March 4, a preparatory meeting was held at the Rail Bhaban, presided over by the Director General of Bangladesh Railway, to discuss Eid travel plans.

According to sources, tickets for March 24 trains may open on March 14, indicating that Eid journeys could begin that day. Special trains might be introduced on several routes, though the exact number is yet to be finalized. The routes will be determined based on passenger demand.

This year, 35,315 advance tickets will be sold daily from Dhaka. 

Railway officials said proposals have been made to add extra engines and coaches to accommodate Eid travelers. A plan has been set to add 36 additional coaches, with some meter-gauge coaches sourced from the Pahartali workshop and broad-gauge coaches from the Saidpur workshop.

Bangladesh Railway Director General Md Afzal Hossain said that all necessary preparations are being made for Eid travel. Another meeting, chaired by the adviser at the Ministry of Railways, is scheduled for March 9, where further details will be announced.
