Bangladesh records 219 dengue cases in 24 hours

A total of 219 new dengue cases were reported across Bangladesh in the 24 hours up to Friday morning, raising the total number of cases this year to 44,692, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

No new deaths were reported during this period, keeping the death toll at 188.

The DGHS provided a breakdown of the new cases: 43 in Barishal Division (outside city corporation), 74 in Chattogram Division (outside city corporation), 40 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 39 in Dhaka South City Corporation, and 23 in Mymensingh Division (outside city corporation).

Currently, 2,026 dengue patients are receiving treatment in hospitals across the country.

Last year, dengue claimed 575 lives nationwide. Health authorities continue to urge people to take preventive measures, including eliminating stagnant water and using mosquito repellents, to control the spread of the virus.
