DHAKA: In their first match of the World Cup group game, New Zealand beat Sri Lanka by 10 wickets at Cardiff on Saturday (June 1).

The Black Caps reached the 137-run target with 203 balls remaining.

MJ Guptill scored not out 73 off 51 balls while C Munro took not out 58 runs off 47 balls.

Earlier, New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson won the toss and sent Sri Lanka in to bat in Cricket World Cup group game against Sri Lanka in Cardiff.

As Karunaratne finished 52 not out off 84 balls, including four boundaries, the Lions lost all wickets to score 136 runs in 29.2 overs.

MJ Henry and LH Ferguson bagged three wickets each for New Zealand.

New Zealand was runners-up in the 2015 World Cup and go into the encounter on a four-game winning streak against Sri Lanka.
