Bangladesh suffered a 4-1 defeat to Malaysia in their opening Pool B match of the eight-team Men’s Asia Cup Hockey 2025 at Bihar Sports University Hockey Stadium in Rajgir, India, today.
After a scoreless first quarter, Ashraful Islam put Bangladesh ahead by converting a penalty corner in the 16th minute. However, Malaysia quickly equalized with a field goal in the 25th minute.
The Malaysian team took the lead in the third quarter with another field goal in the 36th minute and extended their advantage by scoring twice more in the 48th and 54th minutes of the final quarter to secure a comprehensive victory.
Bangladesh will face Chinese Taipei in their next Pool B match tomorrow at the same venue at 1:30 pm.
