Army raids UPDF hideout in Baghaichhari, recovers AK-47: ISPR

The Bangladesh Army conducted a raid early Tuesday targeting a suspected hideout of the United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) in the remote hill district of Baghaichhari in Rangamati.

According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), army troops engaged in an exchange of gunfire with alleged members of the UPDF during the operation.

The raid led to the recovery of a stockpile of weapons and ammunition, including an AK-47 rifle and other firearms. The military did not report any casualties but noted that the operation remains ongoing.

The rugged, isolated terrain of Baghaichhari has long been viewed as a haven for separatist groups, with security agencies suspecting the area is used for arms storage and insurgent activity.

Troops are maintaining a security cordon around the site as part of an extended clearance operation. Further updates will be provided once the mission concludes.
