Rory McIlroy has joined Tiger Woods as only the second player to surpass $100 million (£77 million) in career earnings on the PGA Tour.

The Northern Irish golfer reached the milestone after earning $338,000 for a fifth-place finish in a four-way tie at the Houston Open last week.

Since making his PGA Tour debut in 2010, the 35-year-old has recorded 28 victories in 262 events.

Woods, 49, crossed the $100 million mark in 2012 and remains the all-time leader with $120 million in prize money, having won 82 tournaments in 378 appearances.

Phil Mickelson ranks third with $97 million in career earnings, though he departed the PGA Tour in 2022 to join the Saudi-backed LIV Golf tour in a deal reportedly worth $200 million.

Dustin Johnson, another high-profile defector to LIV in 2022, sits fourth on the earnings list with $76 million, while world number one Scottie Scheffler rounds out the top five at $75 million.
