Bangladesh team returns home after Champions Trophy disappointment

The Bangladesh cricket team returned home with heavy hearts after their campaign in the 2025 Champions Trophy ended in the group stage.

Led by Nazmul Hossain Shantanu, the team arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 11 pm on Friday, bearing the weight of their early exit.

Upon their return, the cricketers will not have much time to rest, as they are scheduled to participate in the upcoming Dhaka Premier League (DPL).

Bangladesh's journey in the Champions Trophy started with a defeat to India, followed by another loss to New Zealand, which sealed their elimination from the tournament.

Their final group match against Pakistan, which was crucial for maintaining hopes of qualification, was abandoned due to rain after the toss.

With the match washed out, both Bangladesh and Pakistan earned a point, but it was not enough for either team to progress.

Bangladesh finished third in the group due to their superior net run rate, while New Zealand and India advanced to the semi-finals.

The team's early exit from the tournament marks a disappointing end to their Champions Trophy campaign, but their focus now shifts to domestic cricket with the DPL just around the corner.
