Six people were killed and two others injured in a collision between a microbus and a truck in Baraigram, Natore on Wednesday morning.
The accident occurred around 9:30 am in front of the Tormuj Pump area on the Bonpara-Hatikumrul highway in the Airmari locality of the upazila.
Among the deceased, microbus driver has been identified as Rubel Hossain, 32, a resident of Gangni upazila in Meherpur district. Identities of the other victims have not yet been confirmed.
All the victims were passengers in the microbus, according to police and locals.
Police said the Dhaka-bound microbus from Meherpur collided head-on with a cement-laden truck coming from the opposite direction, leaving driver Rubel Hossain dead on the spot.
Two critically injured passengers were taken to Baraigram Upazila Health Complex, where one more person succumbed to injuries.
According to police, all the deceased and injured were passengers in the microbus.
The truck involved in the accident has been seized, though the driver managed to flee the scene, police added.
