Bangladesh has sought Singapore’s cooperation to boost its health sector through capacity building, expertise sharing, and infrastructure development, aiming to meet the growing demand for quality healthcare services.
The urge was made by Foreign Secretary Md Jashim Uddin during a meeting with Singapore’s Foreign Minister Dr Vivian Balakrishnan on Monday, following bilateral consultations between the two nations.
Jashim also encouraged increased Singaporean investment in key sectors such as energy, ICT, port infrastructure, and agro-processing, while stressing the importance of concluding a Free Trade Agreement to enhance bilateral trade.
He praised Singapore’s economic leadership and support for Bangladeshi migrant workers, and highlighted the export potential of Bangladeshi goods in the Singaporean market.
Dr Balakrishnan reiterated Singapore’s continued support for Bangladesh on the Rohingya crisis and its ASEAN sectoral dialogue partner bid, emphasizing mutual cooperation on regional and global issues.
The meeting concluded with a call for regular high-level visits to deepen the friendly ties between the two countries.
