Health Adviser Nurjahan Begum today said that the Chinese government will gift a 1,000-bed hospital to Bangladesh in celebration of 50 years of diplomatic relations between Dhaka and Beijing.
The hospital is planned to be built in Rangpur, with land currently being identified for the project.
At a press briefing held at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka, the adviser also shared updates on the treatment of those injured in the July-August uprising.
She said that China has already gifted a robotic physiotherapy set, now at Chittagong Port, which will be installed at Bangladesh Medical University (formerly BSMMU). A team will be trained to operate the equipment.
Top health officials, including Health Services Division Secretary Saidur Rahman and DGHS chief Prof Dr Md Abu Jafor, were present at the briefing.
