Rajshahi Kings go into final

DHAKA: Rajshahi Kings have progressed into the final of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL)-2016 beating Khulna Titans by seven wickets in the second qualifier match.

In response to Titans’ 125-run, Kings scored 129-run losing three wickets with four balls to spare at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur in Dhaka Wednesday (December 7).

Sabbir Rahman, James Franklin, Afif Hossain and Nurul Hasan scored 43, 30, 26 and 14 runs respectively helping Rajshahi to cross the target.

Kevon Cooper, Mosharraf Hossain and Mahmudullah picked up one wicket each for the Titans.

Earlier in the day, Khulna Titans captain Mahmudullah Riyad won the toss and elected to bat first. They could manage a meager 125-run losing nine wickets from their 20-over quota.

Ariful Haque, Mahmudullah, N Pooran, BAC Howell and Abdul Mazid scored 32, 22, 22, 12 and 11 runs respectively.

Samit Patel picked up three Titans wickets for Rajshahi while Kesrick Williams, Farhad Reza and Afif Hossain took one wicket each to restrict Khulna in such a low total.

Rajshahi will play against Dhaka Dynamites in the final match of the fourth edition of Bangladesh’s franchise cricket at Shere-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on December 9 (Friday).

Samit Patel was adjudged as the player of the match.
