BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said that holding the national election on time is the only way to save the country amid the current situation.
“The only way to save this country is holding the elections in due time. For this, everyone must remain united and move forward,” he said while presiding over a discussion titled “The Purpose and Significance of Establishing BNP”, marking the party's 47th founding anniversary.
The event was organized by BNP at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) in Ramna. BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman addressed the event as the chief guest virtually from London.
Mirza Fakhrul alleged that a certain group is trying to steer the country in a different direction and said there are attempts to disrupt the election process.
He also said that if BNP is voted to power, Tarique Rahman will become the prime minister.
Regarding the party’s 31-point reform programme, Fakhrul said it could transform the political and economic structure of Bangladesh if implemented.
