BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has said that an “invisible force” is at work ahead of the 13th national elections and a “web of conspiracies” has already begun to take shape.
He urged party leaders and activists to remain vigilant while emphasizing the need to strengthen the party’s bond with the people to counter such conspiracies.
Tarique Rahman made the remarks today (August 31) while addressing a discussion virtually, marking the 47th founding anniversary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).
“The national election is one of the key means to establish people’s rights. Nearly a year ago, I warned that invisible forces were working centering the upcoming election. The people are now beginning to see it. The evil attempts to destroy people’s right to vote and take away the opportunity to establish their authority through elections are gradually becoming visible,” he said.
“The longer this government stays in power, the more its weaknesses will be exposed. The inability to manage situations will allow anti-July 5 forces to create confusion. Stability in the country is being complicated deliberately. We must remain alert, as defeated and fugitive forces are still lying in wait for opportunities,” he added.
The BNP leader said: “Ahead of the upcoming national election, many conspiracies are being woven. But if we strengthen our bond with the people, no conspiracy can halt BNP’s progress.”
Tarique Rahman said, “Instead of pursuing destructive politics like that of fugitive autocrats, let us work together to form a government accountable to the people of Bangladesh through a fair election.”
He also urged BNP activists to focus on democracy through elections: “We must walk the path of election-centered democracy by ensuring people’s right to vote. A close relationship with the people is the key to our journey forward.”
