BNP Standing Committee member Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan on Saturday (Aug 30) visited Gono Odhikar Parishad President and former Ducsu vice president Nurul Haque Nur, who was critically injured in a police baton charge in the capital.
Moin Khan arrived at the ICU of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) around noon, where he inquired about Nur’s condition and spoke with attending physicians. He also expressed hopes for Nur’s swift recovery.
Speaking to journalists after the visit, Moyeen Khan said: “Nurul Haque Nur’s role on the streets is clear. The people of this country cannot accept such repression against him. The recurrence of yesterday’s attack must not be allowed to happen again.”
He said: “We believe in democracy and peaceful politics. The struggle to restore a democratic environment in the country will continue. Only through a free and fair election can the aspirations of the people be fulfilled.”
