BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed said his party not yet invited to the upcoming July Charter reading ceremony.
He made the remarks while talking to journalists at his residence in Gulshan, Dhaka on Monday (August 4).
At this time, Salahuddin addressed various issues, including the July Charter and related developments.
He said the event is being organised by the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, and the Chief Adviser, Dr Muhammad Yunus, is scheduled to attend. However, no formal invitation has been extended to the BNP as of yet.
Salahuddin criticised attempts to spread confusion suggesting that the BNP is not cooperating on the July Charter. He termed such efforts as deliberate and reflective of “political inferiority”.
The BNP is ready to sign the July Charter at any time, said Salahuddin, adding July Declaration holds significant historical and political value.
BNP had responded to the draft proposal back in February. However, the party disagreed with the decision not to present on March 26 in the charter.
"BNP also believes that state and constitutional recognition should come through the Fourth Schedule," he added.
