BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has said that Bangladesh, now in its 54th year of independence, has evolved into a mature state where people no longer want to see political division.
He made the remarks on Sunday (August 3) while addressing a rally virtually as the chief guest.
The rally was organised by Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) at Shahbagh in the capital, marking the first anniversary of the “July Uprising, Mourning, and Victory.”
Tarique Rahman said the people are the true source of strength not only for the BNP but for all political forces in the country. He praised the bravery of Chhatra Dal activists, stating that during the July uprising last year, hundreds were injured or arrested.
“Around 2,000 JCD activists were detained during that time alone,” he said.
Commending the resilience of the organisation, Mr. Rahman said, “No force can suppress a party that has such brave sons as you.”
He also said the BNP is now prioritising politics aimed at improving people’s lives, rather than focusing on rhetoric.
On education policy, Tarique Rahman said future generations must acquire technical knowledge and skills to remain competitive globally.
If BNP returns to power, party will introduce technical education from the school level, he added.
