A local leader of banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) announced his resignation from politics after bathing in milk in front of villagers.
The incident took place on Tuesday (July 22) afternoon in Agdia village under Narail Sadar upazila.
Sajjadul Islam, president of the BCL's Kalora Union unit, invited local journalists and residents to his home around 5pm. In front of them, he bathed using milk from a bucket and basin placed in his yard.
He also announced his resignation from all BCL posts and pledged to refrain from political activities in the future.
“I was involved in BCL politics for a long time, but it brought me more harm than good,” Sajjadul said. “I lost mental peace, and it affected my family life as well. So, I have decided to step away from politics.”
He also said that he would soon submit a formal resignation letter following his verbal announcement.
The incident drew attention both locally and online, with videos and photos circulating on social media and sparking discussions.
Family members expressed relief at his decision. Several said they had long noticed Sajjadul’s growing frustration and mental stress due to political involvement and were glad he finally chose to leave that path.
