National Citizens’ Party (NCP) convenor Nahid Islam in a speech said the nation will soon witness a fresh movement and that will be against corruption and extortion across Bangladesh.
He came up with the remark on Friday (July 11) while addressing a rally at the Eidgah grounds in Jashore as part of the party’s “Build the Nation with July March” campaign.
Nahid told the gathering, “Write it down—another intense movement will rise in this country. This time, it will be against corruption and extortion. Just as we were victorious in the July uprising, we will win this battle too.”
Criticising unnamed political opponents, Nahid said, “They claim to have the support of millions. But they forget that it was us who forced Hasina’s fascist regime to flee.”
“If you stand for justice and against corruption, even one person can be as powerful as a hundred thousand,” he said, adding, he urged NCP members to resist extortion without fear.
“If any NCP activist is involved in extortion, they too will face action,” he cautioned.
