BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said the forthcoming meeting between party’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus in London on Friday (June 13) could open a “new dimension” in the politics.

He came up with the remark at a press conference held at the BNP Chairperson’s office in Gulshan on Tuesday (June 10).

However, the much desired meeting will take place between 9:00am and 11:00am local time.

Mirza Fakhrul at this time described the upcoming meeting as a significant political development, saying it could open a “new dimension” in the current political landscape of Bangladesh.

Fakhrul said discussions about the meeting began as soon as Yunus’ London visit was announced.

He said, “Personally, I think this meeting is a major political event and it is very important.”

The meeting could create new opportunities, help resolve many problems, and ease the current political tensions, he added.

While talking to media Fakhrul strongly criticized the proposed timing of the upcoming national election, saying that the first half of April is not suitable, as it falls right before Ramadan.
