BNP Standing Committee Member Amir Khashru Mahmud Chowdhury has said there is no qualitative change in the proposed national budget for FY 2025–26.

Speaking at a press conference at BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office, he said, “The main structure of the budget remains unchanged—only the figures have been revised.”

He said that the budget should have been smaller and is unlikely to benefit the next government.

This year’s proposed budget amounts to Tk 7,90,000 crore, marking the first time in Bangladesh’s history that the budget size has decreased from the previous year.
