BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has extended heartfelt wishes to all mothers around the world on the occasion of the Mother's Day.
In a Facebook post around 1:00am, he wrote, “On this day, I pay my deepest respect to the beacon of women's education, the 'Mother of Democracy,' our national leader, Begum Khaleda Zia.”
Reflecting on her legacy, he said Khaleda Zia dedicated her life to democratic progress and building an enlightened society.
He also said that her role in advancing women’s education during the BNP government’s tenure, including initiatives to prevent school dropout among girls.
“She lit the path for women’s education,” he stated, adding that Mother's Day is a moment to honour the sacrifices and contributions of mothers.
“The sweetest word on earth is ‘Mother.’ Hidden within this small word are boundless affection, care, and the purest form of love the world has ever known,” he added.
