The National Citizen Party (NCP) has called for the immediate cancellation of the Awami League’s registration, following the recent ban on the ruling party’s activities.

NCP convener Nahid Islam issued the demand in a statement posted on the party’s official Facebook page on Sunday morning.

"Congratulations to the revolutionary students and the people. Appreciation to the government as well," he wrote. 

"We urge swift implementation of all decisions. The struggle must continue based on the July Declaration and the demand for justice. Those responsible for mass killings must be identified and held accountable," Nahid also said.

He further urged the Election Commission to revoke the Awami League’s registration without delay, referring to it as a "banned fascist party."
