BNP Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee today said that while Eid is traditionally a day of happiness, it has been impossible to truly celebrate for the past 16-17 years due to the government’s actions. 

Speaking to journalists after offering Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at Sonamia Eidgah Jame Mosque in Lakshmipur, Anee praised the people’s cooperation in making this Eid peaceful.
 
Anee said, "The fascist government didn't let us celebrate Eid happily. But today, thanks to the sincerity and cooperation of the people, we can all celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr peacefully."

"Today, we are filled with joy. Our goal should be to keep this spirit alive in the future, and that requires strong unity," he added. 

Several BNP leaders, including Main Uddin Chowdhury Riaz, Foyez Ahmed, Badrul Islam Shyamol, Sohel Adnan, and Shahbaz Chowdhury Zidan, were present at the occasion.
