BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has extended his heartfelt greetings to the people of Bangladesh on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
In a message shared on his verified Facebook account, he stated that, for the first time in one and a half decades, the people of Bangladesh would celebrate Eid in a fearless, free, and democratic environment following the removal of Sheikh Hasina’s regime.
This year, the joy of Eid carries a renewed sense of excitement and enthusiasm, he added.
Tarique Rahman highlighted that after a month of fasting, marked by lessons of sacrifice, piety, and self-restraint, Eid-ul-Fitr arrives as a symbol of unity, compassion, and boundless joy for the Muslim Ummah.
He emphasized that beyond personal celebrations, the occasion fosters solidarity and strengthens the social and moral fabric of individuals, families, and the state.
Extending his greetings to Muslims worldwide, he wished them peace and happiness, saying, "Eid Mubarak to all."
However, he also acknowledged that, despite the joyous occasion, many mothers and families in Bangladesh are unable to celebrate due to the deep wounds left by enforced disappearances, killings, and oppression under the previous Awami League government. He expressed sympathy for the families who lost their loved ones in the struggle against what he termed a fascist regime, stating that for them, Eid remains devoid of happiness.
Rahman underscored the essence of Eid as a reminder of shared humanity, saying, “Eid teaches us that we are all for everyone.” He urged people to rise above social injustices, cruelty, and inequality, embracing the spirit of brotherhood and compassion.
"As Muslims, it is our moral duty to extend a helping hand to the poor, neglected, and underprivileged," he said.
Concluding his message, Tarique Rahman wished the people of Bangladesh and the Muslim Ummah worldwide peace, happiness, progress, and prosperity.
