A Dhaka court today placed former ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak on a three-day remand and two Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leaders on four-day remands each in connection with Riaj's murder during the anti-discrimination movement in Dhanmandi.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Awlad Hossain Muhammad Zunaid issued the order after police produced the trio before the court and requested a five-day remand for each.
The two other remanded BCL leaders are Siam Rahman, General Secretary of the BCL Surjo Sen Hall unit, and Anwar Hossain Nayeem, President of the BCL Fazlul Haque Muslim Hall unit.
According to the case documents, Riaj was shot and killed during an anti-discrimination rally in Dhanmandi on August 4. His mother, Shafia Begum, filed the case with Dhanmandi Police Station on September 10.
