The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has extended the deadline for the submission of an investigation report on former Dhaka North City Corporation mayor Atiqul Islam and nine others, who face charges of murder and genocide in Uttara during the anti-discrimination protests last year.
The order was issued today by the tribunal, headed by its Chairman Justice Md Golam Mortuza Majumdar.
The new deadline has been set for May 12, as the prosecution requested more time due to incomplete investigations.
Initially, the report was due by March 9.
The tribunal, led by Chairman Justice Md Golam Mortuza Majumdar, issued the order today, following a hearing.
Atiqul and the other accused, including political leaders and former police officials, were present in court around noon before being taken back to jail.
The case remains under investigation as the prosecution works to complete the report.
