The National Citizens Party (NCP), formed by student leaders of the July Uprising, will be officially launched today at Manik Mia Avenue, Dhaka.

Nahid Islam is set to be the convenor of this new party and Akhtar Hossain its member secretary.

The party aims to build a democratic state founded on rights and dignity.

At a joint meeting of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the Jatiyo Nagorik Committee, a 151-member convening committee was proposed. 

Key leaders include Nasiruddin Patwari (Chief Coordinator), Abdul Hannan Masud (Joint Coordinator), Hasnat Abdullah (Southern Region Organiser), and Sarjis Alam (Northern Region Organiser).

The party’s formal announcement took place at Manik Mia Avenue at 3:00 PM.
