BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that the 2009 Pilkhana massacre, which claimed the lives of 57 military officers, took place under the leadership of deposed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Speaking at the Banani military cemetery after placing wreaths on the graves of the martyred officers on National Martyred Army Day, Fakhrul referred to the incident as a 'dark chapter' in the country's armed forces history.
“The enemies of the armed forces killed 57 brilliant military officers that day. Their objective was to destroy the country's security system," he said.
The Pilkhana massacre, also known as the BDR mutiny, remains a painful memory for the nation, with political tensions still simmering over its handling and aftermath.
