Bodies may be exhumed for autopsy in Gopalganj clash probe: Adviser

Home Affairs Adviser Lt. Gen. (retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said that the bodies of those killed in the recent clash in Gopalganj may be exhumed for autopsy if necessary.

He said, “Five people have died in the Gopalganj clash. Among them, the body of the deceased brought to Dhaka is already undergoing an autopsy. Some of the bodies were taken by their families in Gopalganj. If required, they will be exhumed for forensic examination.”

The adviser was speaking to journalists after visiting the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Saturday around noon.

In response to questions about who would be held responsible for the deadly clash, he stated that an investigative committee has been formed.

“The committee will determine who is responsible. Once the findings are available, you will know,” Jahangir Alam told reporters.

The clash in Gopalganj, which left five people dead, has sparked concern and prompted a high-level probe.

Authorities are currently gathering evidence and testimonies to determine the cause of the violence and any possible negligence or misconduct.
