Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today urged the nation to unite against emerging anti-women forces.
"The anti-women forces, which are trying to emerge, will have to be tackled together with all the people of the country," he said it during an award ceremony in Osmani Memorial Auditorium marking International Women’s Day.
Yunus also said we need to support women to stop violence and unfair treatment, adding, "If we don't change how we think about women, our nation has no future."
He expressed concern over recent reports of violence against women, calling them contradictory to the dream of building a 'New Bangladesh.'
The Chief Adviser praised the significant contributions of women in various sectors, acknowledging their courage in overcoming challenges and advancing the nation politically and economically.
He also said the government’s commitment to women's rights, citing initiatives like a new hotline for reporting complaints and the updating of the Domestic Violence (Prevention and Protection) Act.
Furthermore, work is underway to formulate the Sexual Harassment Prevention and Protection Act, 2025.
Yunus also said the growing participation of women in sports, with 27.4 lakh girls joining the 'Youth Festival 2025,' demonstrating the support of both men and women for women's rights.
He urged everyone to remain vigilant and cooperate to build a peaceful and equitable society.
