Former Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and Supreme Court Justice Mohammad Abdur Rouf has passed away at the age of 91.
He died at Insaf Barakah Kidney Hospital in Moghbazar around 10am on Sunday due to complications from heart disease.
Justice Rouf, a former judge of the Appellate Division, underwent heart surgery at United Hospital on Thursday, where doctors implanted a pacemaker due to a low heart rate.
As per his family's wishes, he will be buried at his village home in Mymensingh.
Justice Rouf served as the Chief Election Commissioner from 1990 to 1995 and held prominent positions, including Chairman of the National Anti-Corruption Coordination Committee and President of the children’s organization Fulkuri.
