The Public Administration Reform Commission has recommended reducing the number of ministries from 43 to 25 and reorganizing government divisions from 61 to 40.
The commission Chairman Abdul Muyeed Chowdhury, along with other members, handed over the report to Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus on Tuesday (February 5).
The report also suggested categorizing ministries into five clusters based on similar functions. These clusters include statutory administration; finance, industry, and commerce; physical infrastructure and communication; agriculture and environment; and human resources and social development.
The commission believes this restructuring will make governance more effective and reduce administrative complexity.
