The Election Commission (EC) has decided to use advanced software to ensure the smooth distribution of national identity (NID) smart cards. 

Field officials in this regard have been instructed to follow the new decision.

Jakir Mahmud, Assistant Director (Printing and Distribution) of the NID Wing on Tuesday (Feb 4), issued the directive to all Upazila and Thana election officials.

According to the directive, full use of the "Smart Card Re-boxing and Distribution" software must be ensured. 

Additionally, Upazila and Thana offices where smart card distribution has been completed must re-box all undistributed smart cards and report to the NID Director General by March 31.
