A small, twin-engine airplane crashed into Florida’s Lake Okeechobee on Friday — leaving five people dead, officials said.
The Piper PA-23-250 aircraft was preparing to land at Pahokee Airport when it went down around 3:30 p.m., according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said five individuals were on board and “all are deceased.” Their bodies were recovered from the plane’s fuselage.
The FAA plans to investigate the crash, as does the National Transportation Safety Board.
