A delegation of United Nations Security Council will arrive at Rakhaine state of Myanmar on May 1 to see first-hand impact of the Rohingya refugee crisis, reports international media quoting a senior government official of Myanmar.

It is going to be the highest-profile UN visit to Rakhine since the start of military crackdown on the Rohingya Muslim in last August.

Though, UN team proposed a visit to Myanmar in February, but Myanmar said, ‘it is not the appropriate time.’

Now, Myanmar granted visit to a team of 15 members.

The team will reach Naypyidaw on 30th April and will proceed to Rakhine the next day, a senior Myanmar official told reporters.

Nearly 1000,000 Rohingyas fled Myanmar military's violent crackdown on them since August 25 last year. They have taken shelter in Bangladesh.

The repatriation treaty was signed between Bangladesh and Myanmar in the last January amid global pressure. Rohingyas should be taken back to Myanmar within two years, according to treaty.

However, UN said Rakhaine is not prepared to take back Rohingyas.
