Myanmar Consul General in Kolkata Pyi Soe was killed in a road accident in Jharkhand on Friday (Oct 27).

Three others, including his wife Nyo, were seriously injured after their car collided with a truck in Jharkhand's Giridih district, about 180 km from Ranchi, this morning.

The accident happened around 10.30 am on National Highway-2. They were returning from Bodh Gaya when their Innova car rammed a truck in Giridih's Nimiaghat, reports the NDTV.

The police were informed and the cops rushed the victims to Meena General Hospital in Dumri. The Consul General was declared brought dead.

The injured have been referred to Ranchi's Medanta hospital.

Giridih Superintendent of Police Akhilesh B Warrier said they have seized the truck and investigations are on.

Pyi Soe was appointed Consul General in Kolkata in December 2016.
