DHAKA: United States President office White House condemned the ongoing massacre of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar’s Rakhine state carried out by the army of Myanmar led by the government.
Besides, White House appreciated the role of Bangladesh government as it has provided shelters and other humanitarian facilities to the Rohingya refugees who fled Myanmar to save lives from the inhuman persecution there.
“Most of those displaced by the violence have fled into neighboring Bangladesh and we greatly appreciate the significant efforts of the government of Bangladesh to facilitate humanitarian assistance”, said White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders in a statement published at US Embassy in Bangladesh website on September 13.
However, some 370,000 Myanmar Rohingyas have crossed the border along Bangladesh since violence began in August.
Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has urged Myanmar to take back hundreds of thousands of Rohingya Muslims who have fled violence in Rakhine state.
Speaking as she visited Kutupalong refugee camp in Cox’s Bazar on Tuesday (September 12), Sheikh Hasina urged Myanmar to view the situation with humanity, saying innocent people were suffering.
