2 Bangaldeshis jailed in Singapore

SINGAPORE: A Singapore court awarded imprisonment to two Bangladeshi nationals and fined as they tried to enter Malaysia from Singapore illegally.

The convicts are Mohammad Ali of Feni and Yasin Ali of Noakhali.

Earlier on July 5, they were nabbed by immigration police at Woodlands frontier while they were trying to enter Malaysia by a truck.

Ali was awarded 45 days jail and Yasin for 30 days.

Besides, a Malaysian truck driver was sentenced a 6-month jail and fined 2,000 Singapore dollars for helping them to visit illegally.

Singapore’s Immigration Act specifies that if anyone enters the country illegally or overstays shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding 4,000 S$ or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months or to both.
