DHAKA: While the rest of the suckers-for-romance celebrate Valentine’s Day on February 14, the practical people in China celebrate the more aptly named ‘Singles Day’ every 11/11; indulging in heart-shaped soft toys, button-eyed teddies and chocolates.
This love-struck young chap however wanted to change his single status before this year’s celebrations and a ring was perhaps too conventional for him. So he went ahead and did this: he bought 99 iPhone 6s and made a heart shaped ring with them around his girlfriend.
According to The NanFang Insider, this extravagant proposal, which occurred in Guangzhou, cost this man about $82,000 which is apparently worth two years of his salary.
So on a pavement, surrounded by spectators who had formed a ring around the couple, he popped the question to his beloved who... wait for it... said ‘no’.
So basically, 99 iPhones will only get you 99 Siris, not a wife.
Twitter predictably loved this drama, as it does all things weird and these especially witty tweeple had this to say about this epic fail of a proposal, reports NDTV.
