At least four people have been killed in Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, following US air strikes on Sunday, according to the country’s Ministry of Health. 

The attacks targeted a residential building, injuring more than 20 individuals, including four women and children, as reported by local sources.

Additionally, US warplanes launched three more airstrikes on the Al Jabal al Aswad area in the Bani Matar district, located to the west of the capital. No further information has been provided regarding casualties in these strikes.

Earlier reports from the Houthi movement indicated that US air strikes in the Houthi stronghold of Saada overnight killed at least two people and wounded nine others. 

Footage broadcast by the Houthis' Al Masirah channel showed a two-storey building collapsing following one of the airstrikes.

The ongoing US air campaign in Yemen, authorized under President Donald Trump, primarily targets the Iranian-backed Houthi group. 

These strikes are a response to Houthi attacks on shipping vessels in the Red Sea. The Houthis have been conducting operations in support of Palestinians during the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

Since Trump ordered the resumption of these strikes last month, dozens of Yemenis have been killed, including civilians. 

Military sites have been destroyed, and soldiers have been killed in the air raids. The White House reported that over 200 strikes have been conducted.

The air strikes began after the Houthis announced their intention to resume attacks on Israeli-linked ships, citing Israel's blockade of Gaza aid and the resumption of its military operations after a six-week ceasefire ended on March 18. 

From November 2023 to January 2024, the Houthis targeted more than 100 merchant ships with missiles and drones.
