Hamas has confirmed the death of senior official Ismail Barhoum in an Israeli strike earlier today.
In an official statement, the group stated that Barhoum, a member of its political bureau, was killed while receiving treatment at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis.
Earlier, Defense Minister Israel Katz announced that the IDF had successfully eliminated Barhoum, describing him as the newly appointed Hamas prime minister in Gaza, following the recent killing of his predecessor, Issam Da’alis.
Since the war in Gaza began, 11 out of the 20 members elected to Hamas’s political bureau in 2021 have been assassinated, while seven are believed to be outside the Gaza Strip.
