China’s number two leader said Sunday that the country would “adhere to the correct direction of economic globalization” in the face of “fragmentation,” as a renewed trade war with Washington heats up.

“As a responsible major country, China will firmly stand on the correct side of history... (practicing) true multilateralism,” Premier Li Qiang said at a gathering with global business executives in Beijing.
