The United States has paused military aid to Ukraine, a White House official confirmed to CBS News, the BBC’s US partner.
"We are pausing and reviewing our aid to ensure that it is contributing to a solution," the official stated, without providing further details.
Since Russia’s full-scale invasion three years ago, the US has been Ukraine’s largest military backer, supplying weapons, equipment, and financial assistance.
The decision comes just hours after former US President Donald Trump criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for stating that the war’s end remains "very, very far away."
Meanwhile, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has unveiled a four-point strategy aimed at supporting Ukraine’s defense and seeking an end to the conflict.
However, European leaders, following a summit on Sunday, warned that ensuring peace in Ukraine may not be possible without US involvement.
