The country recorded 138 new dengue cases in the 24 hours leading up to Friday (Aug 1) morning, bringing the total number of infections this year to 21,118, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Among the new cases, 49 were reported in Barisal Division (outside city corporation areas), 25 in Dhaka Division (outside CC), 17 in Chittagong Division (outside CC), 10 each in Rajshahi and Khulna Divisions (outside CC), while 14 were reported in Dhaka North City Corporation and 13 in Dhaka South City Corporation.
The death toll from dengue remained unchanged at 83, as no new fatalities were reported during the period.
Currently, 1,307 patients are receiving treatment in hospitals across the country.
Last year, Bangladesh recorded 1,01,214 dengue cases and 575 deaths, with 1,00,040 recoveries, DGHS data shows.
